WHAT ARE THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION? Various duties depending on department Completes training on workstations and job/department specific applications Demonstrates ability to effectively analyze and execute professional level work in the assigned department Work on special projects as assigned by the supervisor Demonstrates an understanding of State Farm policies and procedures WHAT KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ARE NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS POSITION? Must be a college student Effective communication skills, both oral and written Ability to work in team environment ITEMS OF NOTE Position not eligible for merit increases or Performance Cash ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Administrative Services- Safety and Environmental Health The Safety and Health Unit is responsible for maintaining a safe, healthy work environment for State Farm employees, external associates, and assuring compliance with occupational safety, environmental, and fire protection regulations. The unit develops policies and procedures for the entire enterprise, and serves as a technical resource for all safety and health issues. Qualifications -------- GPA 3.0 or greater -------- Majors required/preferred: Occupational Safety or Environmental Health -------- Skills required/preferred for the position: o General Background in Occupational Safety, Fire Protection, and environmental health issues o Ability to use Microsoft Office products o Ability to make oral presentations and lead training classes Compensation $14.00/hour based on a 38 ¾ work week (full time) Intern Projects The intern would assist in evaluating existing safety compliance programs to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards. The intern would make program comparisons, develop recommendations for improvement, and develop an action plan for implementation. Program evaluations will include reviews of the following programs at our Bloomington based facilities: -------- Ergonomics -------- Permit Required Confined Spaces -------- Hazard Assessment Methods -------- Accident investigation procedures These program recommendations will be used as a foundation to make changes to our enterprise wide policies and procedures.
