CarMax specific duties and responsibilities:
1. Oversee day-to-day recruiting activities for recruiting team & help establish process improvements to include a best-in-class interview process.
2. Manage and lead a team of 15+ recruiters, contract recruiters, and administrative assistants responsible for hiring bench candidates for store management positions and home office new/replacement needs; ensure team’s success in proactively sourcing a diverse pipeline, assessing talent, and timely processing of candidates.
3. Allocate and distribute job requisitions to recruiting team; maintain equitable balance based on level and difficulty of requisitions.
4. Provide monthly/quarterly/annual business metrics and reporting to communicate staffing efficiency.
5. Set and maintain clear business objectives for recruiting team to meet annual goals. Track recruiting metrics and continually evaluate results to assess effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.
6. Understand market conditions for targeted sources and assist recruiters in preparing distinct and effective recruiting approaches to those markets.
7. Day-to-day management and development of the team (mentoring, IDPs, performance feedback, job knowledge, file reviews, rewards and recognition, annual performance reviews, etc.).
8. Provide assessment and development opportunities to the team that promotes internal growth and career paths; effectively develop talent for next level promotion.
9. Effectively lead team members to meet hiring goals and department performance indicators such as Customer Satisfaction Metrics, Time to Fill, Cost per Hire, Quarterly Hiring Targets, Hires/Recruiter, and Hiring Quality Indexes.
10. Build and maintain credibility with Regional and Store Leadership teams; partner with field managers to set expectations and deliverables from recruiting team.
11. Partner with CarMax Auto Finance on joint recruiting ventures such as recruiting related materials and joint recruiting ventures (job fairs, social media, college recruiting, etc).
12. Manage relationships with all approved contingency staffing firms and contract recruiting partnerships to help augment staffing.
13. Serve as the Recruiting POC for higher-level management searches and support recruiting openings/requisitions as needed or as recruiting workload dictates." />

CarMax has an exciting opportunity for a highly qualified candidate to join us as Manager, Recruiting. Based at our Home Office in Richmond, VA, this position will lead all the recruitment activities related to talent acquisition for home office and store management trainee level. This role will provide exciting and challenging opportunities to manage a team of 15+ Recruiters and Administrative Assistants who are actively driving current recruiting activity to support the growth of CarMax. In partnership with the future state of recruiting, this position will offer support with ongoing strategic sourcing strategies, talent pipeline management, data driven measurements, budget forecasting, and quality assurance metrics that tie back to retention and succession planning. The Manager, Recruiting will directly manage a team of Recruiters and Administrative Assistants supporting management trainee hiring for CarMax stores across the US plus exempt/non-exempt associates at the home office, while striving to maintain the diversity and integrity of its culture.

Position requirements, education, and experience:
• 5+ years in HR with experience successfully managing exempt and nonexempt recruiting department. • Direct experience leading and managing a fast paced and best-in-class recruiting and staffing function on a national level (or a large division). • Demonstrated experience influencing across multiple levels and interacting with senior management; exceptional credibility within the organization; proven track record of influencing and adding value with the ability to serve as a thought partner to his/her peers. • Strong interpersonal skills and problem solving ability; capable and experienced user of data to drive decisions and influence stakeholders. • Strategic thinker with strong planning & execution skills. • Proficiency with training, mentoring, developing associates. • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint. • Experience managing large and small scale projects to include cross collaboration; hands-on involvement critical. • Ability to lead courageously and make sound independent decisions. • Results focused; High action orientation. • Ability to travel approximately 20% annually with some overnights. • Technical user experience with top applicant tracking systems and the ability to generate ad-hoc reporting a plus. • 4 year business related college degree and HR certifications a plus.
