Our software is lighting up Unified Communications and we seek a software engineer to help create the next generation of application software and services for communications including voice, video, instant messaging and social networking. You will champion new technologies and create scalable client and server software Web 2.0 applications. Educational Qualifications: B.Sc. / B.Eng / M.Sc / M.Eng / PHd or equivalents in the areas of Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Software Development, Computer Networking, Electronics or other equivalent disciplines with an emphasis on Software Design practices. Pre-requisite Job Experience: 5 - 10 years in a SW R&D Environment. Target Capabilities and Skills The successful candidate will have most of the following skills: • Client coding skills in JavaScript and/or C++ • Web Application Development skills in JSP, Struts and Javascript • Strong Web Application development skills in DHTML and Ajax, consuming REST/RPC-Hybrid services • Object Oriented Design methodologies and S/W Design Principles • Experience developing client applications on multi-platform browser technologies • Experience developing server applications on Tomcat, Apache and other Web Servers The following skills would also be advantageous: • Experience in developing Web SDKs for external/third party consumption • Experience developing AJAX APIs • Experience creating and consuming Web2.0 widgets • Advanced coding skills in Java / C# • Experience in Linux • Experience on Apache / Tomcat / Jetty Web Servers • Knowledge of Networking and Unified Communications protocols (XMPP, SIP, SIMPLE, etc). • Telephony/ VOIP product knowledge. Core Competencies: The successful candidate will have: • Strong communication skills, both written and oral. • Be self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and be flexible. • Proven history of delivery in a Software Development environment. • Mentoring & Teaming. • Technical Capability. Job Description: Become a member of the Galway Cisco Software Development Team working in the area of Unified Communications with a mandate to complete many of the following Software Development process tasks: • Product Feature Requirements analysis and solution definition. • Provide input to solution architecture and development. • Coding in JavaScript/C++/Struts/JSP including prototyping, iterative feature development, unit testing, test automation • Documentation including writing System Functional Specifications. • Working in an Iterative Agile environment • Contributing to interactions with peer R&D sub-teams and technical primes across the globe. • Assist in achieving target Quality Standards (ISO/TL9000). Training and Mentoring: Will be supplied to successful candidates. Travel: Some international travel may be required.
