This role will drive Cisco's technical marketing efforts in the emerging Wide Area Application Services and WAN Optimization market. Cisco WAAS is a comprehensive, cost-effective, cloud-ready WAN optimization solution that accelerates applications, optimizes bandwidth, provides local hosting of branch IT services, and enables cloud services, all with industry-leading network integration. Cisco WAAS allows IT departments to centralize applications and storage while maintaining productivity for branch-office and mobile users. The Technical Marketing Engineer (TME) is responsible for the total system level solution definition and the outbound technical marketing efforts. This includes driving the strategy and technical marketing operations for a set of platforms and services. The TME jointly develops in conjunction with the product management team overall marketing plans, managing commitments and schedules. Leads the technical marketing function in a cross-functional product team. Identifies and implements projects relevant to cross-BU business strategies. Represents Cisco at industry forums (both standards and conferences). Education Typically requires BSCS or BSEE or equivalent plus 10+ years related experience. Skills Required Experience with networking solutions. Routing and Switching platforms. Background in Microsoft Applications such as Sharepoint, Exchange, File services Active Directory, storage devices, file servers, Virtualization (VMware ESXi, vSphere) Network Attached Storage (NAS) and internetworking technology. Candidates should understand competitive offerings in this space. Proven business and technical expertise and extensive product marketing engineering experience.. Excellent working relationship with press and individual analysts. Ability to formulate and deliver highly complex presentations internally and externally. Understands and solves complex technical problems. Understands the inter BU/TG dependencies and develops, executes and follow-ups on the action plan to address the problem. Works with PM and the field to understand and position competitive issues at the corporate/strategic level. Communicate and influence effectively. Ability to solve problems. Teamwork and partnerships. Achieve cross-BU influence. Works with little to no direction and demonstrates leadership. Time/Project management skills. Work is only reviewed for accomplishment of objectives. Ability to multitask, plan, react, anticipate and solve problems proactively. Resolves intra/inter team/BU/TG conflicts effectively. Typically reports to Mgr, Technical Marketing III. Accountable to direct manager, PM Directors and Engineering Directors cross BU/TGs. Interacts with manager, PM and Engineering Directors across BU/TGs.
