WHAT ARE THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION? Present training programs as well as design/present training to associates regarding the analysis of injury claims Serve as a technical resource to State Farm personnel on the subject of the treatment and prognosis of injuries, mechanism of injury, and medical/vocational rehabilitation Conducts comprehensive and analytical reviews of medical records, and identifies medical training needs May act as a liaison with healthcare consultants, providers, auditors, and medical/rehabilitation facilities WHAT KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ARE NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS POSITION? Medical background; extensive medical experience; i.e., critical care, emergency department, orthopedics, general surgery, occupational health, physical therapy, occupational therapy or, chiropractic is preferred Computer knowledge: Utilizes a computer for research and training presentations Ability to foster/maintain good public relations ITEMS OF NOTE Where conditions warrant, may serve both the Fire and Auto Companies ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The Opening is located at the State Farm Tulsa Operation Center. The competitive candidate will have a background in nursing, teaching, research and/or medical trauma. The Injury Claim Trainer (ICT) assists local management in identifying training needs. The ICT also serves as a technical resource person to claim personnel regarding specific injuries and various medical management issues. In addition, the ICT may act in a liaison capacity with health care consultants, providers, auditors, vendors, and medical rehabilitation facilities. At least 50 percent of the ICT's time is typically dedicated to actual training or in classroom preparation. In addition, ICTs assist claim handlers and management in understanding the medical information presented in a specific claim file. They may offer suggestions or a recommendation based on an analysis of the information, particularly as it relates to obtaining additional relevant medical documentation. Medical research may be conducted by the ICT to better understand the issues in a specific file or in preparation for a class. ICTs frequently consult medical libraries, peer-reviewed journals, medical texts, and reliable Internet sites to obtain accurate and credible information on a given topic.
