Internship Program Program Objectives ACT’s annual Internship Program provides an opportunity for both undergraduate and graduate students to receive hands-on experience in their respective fields during the summer months and potentially a fulltime employment opportunity based on performance and areas of growth for the organization. The program also seeks to build relationships between the interns, with the community and all team members at ACT. Program Description The Internship Program starts on May 29, 2012 and concludes on July 27, 2012. During this time each intern will complete a business project defined by their supervisor. Housing Assistance and Travel Expenses ACT will provide interns with housing during the dates of the program. ACT will also cover basic round trip travel expenses (shipping of items, airline baggage costs, etc.) incurred as a result of relocation to and from the internship site. This assistance will be provided for interns who live at least 50 miles outside of the internship site. Mentoring Each intern will be paired with a mentor within the organization. The mentor will not be the intern’s direct supervisor. The interns will meet with their mentor at regular intervals over the duration of the program. This time will be used to share experiences, celebrate achievements, and provide guidance. Job Shadowing The interns will have the opportunity to spend one work day job shadowing an ACT employee in a field outside of their assignment areas. This will allow them to further explore other professional possibilities, passions and interests. Group Outreach Project All interns are required to participate in a local community service project that advances ACT’s mission. The interns will work as a team to develop, initiate, and complete the project. The project’s purpose is to help the interns understand how their work can positively impact communities and to create opportunities to develop teamwork skills. Each intern will be required to complete at least 8 hours of community outreach upon completion of their internship. Multiculturalism at ACT ACT believes that multiculturalism makes it possible for ACT to pursue the mission of helping people achieve education and workplace success. Our intern program helps us to acquire and retain a high quality workforce that reflects the customers we serve, the communities in which we work, and the values upon which the organization is built. ACT aspires to be an employer of choice for those desiring an inclusive and supportive workplace where uniqueness is valued. Intern Requirements Candidates must submit an online application, an attached statement of interest and experience, resume or vita, and a clear photocopy of official graduate and undergraduate transcripts issued by the university. Each candidate must also submit two letters of recommendation. All application materials must be received by February 27, 2012. |
