Our Senior Commercial Auto Claims Representative will: o Handle multi-state Commercial General Liability claims involving some litigation and many coverage issues for our small business policy holders. o Use specialized claims handling software to determine the value of a loss in a paperless environment. o Use strong customer service skills to negotiate with policyholders and claimants to settle the claim.
If you have the following: o Bachelors Degree. o Prior commercial general liability claims handling experience. o Excellent customer service and communication skills. o Strong knowledge of insurance policies and complex coverage issues. o Outgoing personality that would enjoy interacting with a wide variety of people including policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, fraud investigators, attorneys, expert witnesses and medical professionals.

Conducts investigation on assigned cases, confirms coverage, determines liability, identifies subrogation rights, establishes damages, prepares cases for arbitration, reports status, and negotiates settlement (has authority to make payment of assigned claims within prescribed limits). Adjusts all types of claims including bodily injury, property damage,multiple line coverage, property, workers' compensation, no fault (Colorado and Michigan), and auto physical damage.Inspects damaged property and determines claim related damage.Estimates the cost of repair or replacement of damaged or stolen property. Determines and reports on subrogation potential.Initiates the sale of personal property and miscellaneous salvage items.Reports theft, fraud, and arson losses as required to state and industry agencies.Assists and trains agents under the Agency Claims Training Program. Performs most duties on an individual basis outside the office, and work has a direct bearing on Management results. Represents the Company from a public relations standpoint and must conduct oneself as a member of Management at all times.Contacts are a major part of activity and include policy holders,claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, police and fire departments,state and county fraud and arson personnel, special investigators, attorneys, expert witnesses, members of the medical profession and all other persons incident to the investigation and processing of claims. Analyzes detailed coverage issues and is responsible for complex investigation on litigated and unlitigated cases; reads and understands plaintiff complaints and petitions, insurance contracts and indemnity agreements.Responsible for high dollar exposure to both indemnity and expense.Investigates, confirms coverage, determines liability, establishes damages, reports status and negotiates the settlement of assigned cases(has authority to make payment of assigned claims within prescribed limits).Adjusts all types of claims.Inspects damaged property and vehicles, and determines claims related damage.Estimates the cost of repair or replacement of damaged or stolen property and vehicles.Determines and reports on subrogation potential. Initiates the sale of salvage vehicles, personal property, and miscellaneous salvage items.Reports theft, fraud, and arson losses as required to state and industry agencies.Performs most duties on an individual basis, and work has a direct bearing on Management results.Represents the Company from a public relations standpoint and must conduct oneself as a member of Management at all times.Personal contacts are a major part of activity and include policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, repair facilities,contractors, police and fire departments, state and county fraud and arson personnel, special investigators, attorneys, expert witnesses,members of the medical profession and all other persons incident to the investigation and processing of claims. *Employees assigned to the Catastrophe team will be required to travel away from their residence for a specified period of time, usually consisting of 23 days. Promotes safety at all times and complies with safety/ergonomic standards as outlined in relevant company published manuals.Performs other duties as assigned.Performs other functions as assigned.
Required job duties are normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment, but with exposure to some or all of the following environments when in the field: Uncontrolled outside environmental conditions Excessive Noise Levels Chemicals Chemical/Biological Conditions Moving Mechanical Parts Areas considered dangerous Conditions, which could affect the respiratory system or skin such as: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, oils, smoke, soot, or poor ventilation.
Four-year college degree is required. Outside insurance education,e.g., CPCU, GCA is preferred.
Outside candidates should have a minimum of 1 year of prior claims or 2years of related industry experience. The same time-on-job requirementis preferred for internal candidates.
