Responsibilities Overview The Network Transport Contracts organization is responsible for negotiating a variety of procurement agreements with telephone service providers throughout the United States for the purchase of telecom services -- such as Ethernet IP Backhaul, SONET, Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), and Microwave -- that will support the wireless network infrastructure. This Contract Negotiator position will provide oversight of, and pursue to completion, these various Network Transport Contracts to assure that each contract accuracy reflects the business purpose and operational requirements, and provides the necessary legal protections consistent with Verizon Wireless’ standards and policies. Duties and Responsibilities: • Negotiation of transport related contracts with other Telecommunications Service Providers (Carriers). This includes various connecting carriers (RBOCs, ILECs, and CLECs.) Act as liaison with contracted Carriers to ensure that performance of terms and conditions is compliant with negotiated contracts. • Maintain all Verizon Wireless contracts within geographic area of responsibility and coordinate with, finance, strategic planning, facilities and regional planning organizations in the development of appropriate terms and conditions. • Establish transport facility Master Service Agreements between Verizon Wireless and transport facility vendors that can be utilized to set parameters on a statewide or nationwide basis to augment and build out the Verizon Wireless service network. • Negotiate transport facility contracts with a variety of vendors including CLECs, RBOCs, and Special Service Vendors, for services dependent on Master Services Agreements already in place, tariff contracts, Dark Fiber maintenance and IRUs, Volume Term agreements, Ethernet Backhaul Service, and Individual Case Based contracts. • Work independently and cooperatively with internal and external legal support staff to resolve appropriate contractual terms and conditions on transport contracts. • Perform management analysis of existing and proposed transport agreements to establish schedule and cost standards that ensure Verizon Wireless remains cost competitive in the marketplace. • Team cooperation with peers in the Interconnection and Transport Contracts Group in developing and advocating internal and external policy positions associated with interconnection and transport arrangements consistent with Verizon Wireless objectives and business guidelines. • Where necessary, create a library of templates for transport facilities contracts with terms and conditions that represent a Verizon Wireless negotiating position that can reduce the cycle time for processing transport contracts. Qualifications Candidate Qualifications: Required: • BS/BA Required • Twelve to fifteen years of telephony experience, with appropriate network knowledge • Sound financial analysis, product management, and competitive analysis background • Full working level knowledge of transport facilities and concepts • Prior negotiating experience • Excellent written and oral communications skills • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills • Candidate must be a self-starter with ability to prioritize when resources demand working on multiple projects simultaneously • Team orientation with ability to work independently • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Desirable: • MBA • Prior experience in project management, pricing and costing • Knowledge of existing transport facility contracts and tariffs Equal Employment Opportunity We are an equal opportunity employer m/f/d/v. |
