The ideal candidate will have a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science and practical experience building and/or operating large-scale distributed systems. A successful candidate be comfortable working on complex web scale cloud compute and storage infrastructures and virtualization and data center architectures from concept to detailed design and is naturally team oriented, customer-centric, and passionate about achieving operational excellence at scale. Responsibilities: • Serve as industry expert on underlying compute, storage, and data center networking technologies and emerging trends in cloud computing, storage and networking. • Architect cloud or content delivery infrastructures for web-based applications and/or web services-based applications, particularly at massive scale. • Perform large scale cluster or cloud systems modeling, performance analysis, and capacity planning. • Model and benchmark customer experience with varied services and usage patterns across wired, wireless, and mobile devices. • Perform infrastructure, services and applications systems/network troubleshooting • Develop presentations, whitepapers, and architectural documents working with platform engineering • Build technical relationships with customer architects and software teams, and with Cisco cloud, data center, and network product teams and partners. Requirements: • BS/BA in Computer Science preferred, MS or equivalent in Computer Science preferred • 7+ years of progressive experience in a pre-sales or customer facing technical role. • 2+ years experience architecting, designing and/or operating web scale cloud and/or cluster infrastructure with web scale scalability, performance and reliability goals • 2+ years experience in performance, capacity, and latency analysis including writing tools for performance analysis, capacity planning, and reliability/troubleshooting • 2+ year working on large cloud systems engineering projects through their lifecycle: architecture/design, implementation, testing, post-release maintenance and support • Systems engineering and/or operational experience with infrastructure built on cloud and virtualization technologies such as vSphere, Xen, AWS, Eucalyptus, Hadoop, MapReduce, Cassandra, MemCached, MySQL, Hive, Varnish, GFS, OpenStack, etc. • Strong familiarity with common Internet/Web and Platform/Language technologies such as HTTP, HLS, XML, OOP, Java, Ruby, AJAX, PHP, REST, SOAP, XMPP • Experience with digital media, video/streaming, CDN, e-commerce platforms a plus Table.Right {float: Right;text-align: Right;border:0;padding:3px;} DIV.VEclearFloatAfterElement {clear:both;visibility:hidden;height:0px;} Cisco is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer Cisco is an E-Verify employer.
