WHAT ARE THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION? Analyzes the need for and develops state of the art actuarial pricing applications to support the P&C Actuarial DepartmentProvides architectural oversight for the development of new and/or enhanced applications or products; integrates components built by application developers and/or programmers as needed; provides technical advice to others within departmentDesigns, documents, and develops actuarial pricing web/intranet and workstation applicationsServes as a P&C Actuarial liaison with IT department for web, data management and data coordination issues WHAT KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ARE NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS POSITION? Experience analyzing, designing, developing and maintaining property & casualty actuarial pricing dataAbility to resolve data problems and/or inconsistencies ITEMS OF NOTE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION We are looking for entry level programmers with a bachelors degree in IT with Math skills or a bachelors degree in Math with significant IT skills. Knowledge of Object Oriented programming and/or Database Management is needed. The successful candidates will work in the P&C Actuarial Department, starting in the Pricing area for Auto, Homeowners or Commercial Lines. As business knowledge is gained, the employees will be deployed to other units within the department that provide technical assistance, automation and process improvement via database work and development of applications and tools for use by actuaries. There are many challenging opportunities in these units to help State Farm remain a top competitor in Auto, Homeowners, and Commercial insurance arenas. Note this is not an actuarial position; there is no actuarial exam support for this position.
