Job Description: JOB TITLE: Director, Sales & Operations Planning

This business leader role is critical to aligning, enabling, and driving key components of the Next Cisco model. Specifically, this role works to help create a “One Cisco” corporate interlocked plan that addresses the needs of revenue, inventory, service level and margin optimization by driving fact-based decision-making across, multiple business entities, regions, and stakeholders such as Finance, Marketing, and Sales. The results will ensure not only optimized operating plans, but also help to support product life cycles, portfolio optimization, and go-to-market strategies. The ultimate goal will be to improve the transparency of decisions, trade-offs, and risks while optimizing our customer experience, corporate targets and operational efficiencies (culture of continuous improvement), leading to a competitive advantage for Cisco in the marketplace. The role provides for a single point of accountability for Business Group-wide Sales and Operations Planning.


JOB DUTIES: Drive Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process to best-in-class levels through cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Finance, Sales, and Operations to balance customer experience, operational excellence, and innovation enablement resulting in:
• Revenue attainment & gross margin preservation
• Fill rate & inventory optimization
• Customer & market share retention
• Demand Shaping, Flexibility requirements
• Quicker time-to-market and product lifecycle efficiency
• Single aligned business plans with known, measurable operating ranges
• Enhanced teamwork, alignment and effective decision-making

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:
• Manage team of high-performing of S&OP Managers and Planners that service multiple Business Units within a given Business Group
• Serve as an aggregation point and owner of S&OP process at Business Group level
• Orchestrate monthly planning cycle across respective Business Group with business partners and within Supply Chain Operations:
o Revenue planning & attainment for Business Group and its component Business Units
o Supply-demand balancing, constraints, allocations, and forward-looking projections
o Inventory – fill rate and weeks of supply
o Delivery performance – On-time to request / original commit / current commit; Lead time attainment
 Inventory-delivery trade offs
 Delivery performance for critical customer accounts & market segments
o Cost / margin optimization
o What-if / scenario planning and decision-making, e.g.
 Inventory-Delivery-Margin trade offs
 Demand sensing & shaping thru pricing / bundling initiatives
 Key customer impact & mitigation strategies
 Profit and Loss optimization
• Collaborate with Product Operations on cost, quality, lifecycle management inter-links to S&OP
• Partner with Global Process Organization and IT leads for pilot creation, processes & tools development, for continuous improvement of S&OP process


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Masters Degree equivalent in Business Administration or related supply chain management field

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 10+years of broad and deep supply chain experience (planning, inventory management, PLM), finance knowledge/experience (P&L, revenue planning, etc) and significant previous experience operating in cross-functional environments and interacting/influencing to the most senior levels of management

CAPABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
• Leadership – in addition to the team of direct reports, it is essential that the ideal candidate be comfortable with leading a matrixed team in running the business, transformational activities and in coaching and career development of a team of high performing individuals
• Excellent influence management skills to drive an align prioritization of business functional/capabilities end-to-end. Ability to lead, influence, and effectively negotiate internally and cross-functionally..Ability to generate respect, trust and alignment from internal cross-functional teams
• Strong business acumen skills to interface with Senior Business Leadership around business requirements. Solid working knowledge of business unit objectives, P&L targets and levers, budget constraints/targets, metrics and commitment to evolve the organization through an agile what-if capabilities to meet dynamic business needs with a strong foundation of communications and change management.
• Highly results-oriented with ability to clearly articulate and deliver business value. Experience developing and implementing operational procedures, systems and processes to deliver a high quality service across multiple stakeholders
• Industry best practices knowledge & experience in:
• Demand planning (i.e. sales statistical forecasting, revenue planning, collaborative planning with key customers, consensus demand planning)
• Supply planning and scheduling (i.e., supply-demand balancing, critical component allocation, constrained revenue planning)
• Lean demand pull (push-pull boundaries), Flexibility; cost-delivery-inventory “what-if” trade-offs
• Strong knowledge of “P&L” line items and management, particularly as it applies to Gross Margin
• Excellent communicator (written and verbal) and ability to create and deliver executive fact-based, clear presentations on complex business and supply chain topics
• Highly analytic and detailed oriented while being able to incorporate into the ‘big picture”
• Driven to achieve results and business impact beyond specific area of accountability
• Customer focused mind set, (Sales, Finance, Business Units,etc…) Ability to cultivate an environment focused on customer satisfaction.
