Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer Region: AMERICAS

Job Description: Looking for highly motivated Engineer to help drive NGN Architecture adoption at Telco customers to support the evolution of residential voice, video, and data services.

Qualified candidates will be very competent in IP Routing and Switching, Carrier Ethernet Technologies and DWDM transport. Product experience and expertise in at least one of the following products is required: ASR9k, ASR1k, ONS15454, CPT, ME3600/ME3800, ASR903, ASR901, uBR72xx, and uBR10K.

Candidates with IP and MPLS expertise relevant to Wireline SP requirements is highly desired. Optical expertise in DWDM transport relevant to Telco and Consortium Requirements is also highly desired. The ideal candidate will understand the Telco market and have established relationships in industry as well as with Telco Consortiums.

Business acumen and sales skills are a requirement. Candidates should be able to reference accomplishments that demonstrate close collaboration with customers, and developing solutions based upon Service Provider requirements. Candidate will be able to work competently with little direct supervision.

Candidate should be ready to show strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to communicate up and down the org chart, from Engineer to Senior Vice President.


Travel required = 50%

Education
Typically requires BS/BA (EE/CS) or equivalent.
CCIE certification highly desirable and/or preferred.
Experience 7+ years-related experience.
Cisco product experience or relevant experience is key.
Competitor offerings in technology area of emphasis required.
Pre-Sales experience is preferred, but not required.

Technical/Business Knowledge
1. In-depth knowledge of baseline SE skills and in-depth knowledge in at least one relevant area of specialization.
2. In-depth knowledge and strong operating experience in at least one of the following area's of specialization: Multi-Service (Voice and Video), Optical Networking, Transmission Systems or Cable Infrastructure.
3. Knowledge of relevant solutions sets, product line specifications, performance criteria and applications.
4. Competitive knowledge (in their area of specialization) including solution, technology and product offerings.
5. Understanding and conversant about company, competitors, technologies, solutions, product strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
6. Ability to partner strongly with sales reps to drive account strategy.

Skills Required
1. Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, negotiation and presentation skills.
2. Ability to work effectively, add value as a team member and assume a leadership role for the team.
3. Demonstrate technical knowledge and consultative skills.
