Our software is lighting up Unified Communications and breaking new ground in the area of Virtualisation. We seek a software engineer to help create the next generation of software and services for communications incorporating voice and video in a Virtualised Environment. You will champion new technologies and create scalable software that supports the delivery of Unified Communications and Streamed Media in a Virtualised Environment. Educational Qualifications: B.Sc. / B.Eng / M.Sc / M.Eng / PHd or equivalents in the areas of Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Software Development, Computer Networking, Electronics or other equivalent disciplines with an emphasis on Software Design practices. Pre-requisite Job Experience: 5-10 years in a SW R&D Environment. Target Capabilities and Skills The successful candidate will have most of the following skills: • Advanced coding skills in Multi-threaded C/C++ programming • Development experience on a Linux or cross-platform development environment • Proven Skills in debugging software in complex environments • Object Oriented Design methodologies and S/W Design Principles delivered via an Agile process environment • Proven history of program delivery over multiple release cycles The following skills would also be advantageous: • Development experience with Browser Plugins on a Linux Environment. • Knowledge of programing with Sockets, Google Protocol Buffers or other IPC mechanisms • Experience with Qt, GTK or xLib tools and libraries. • Experience with Desktop Virtualisation products such as VmWare View or Citrix Xendesktop/XenApp. • Knowledge of Networking and Unified Communications. • Telephony/ VOIP product knowledge. Core Competencies: The successful candidate will have: • Strong communication skills, both written and oral. • Be self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and be flexible. • Proven history of delivery in a Software Development environment. • Mentoring & Teaming. • Knowledge of Source Code Control tools and Build Automation environments Job Description: Become a member of the Galway Cisco Software Development Team working in the area of Unified Communications in a Virtualised environment with a mandate to complete many of the following Software Development process tasks: • Software Development and Coding including Multi-Threaded C++ in a Linux environment. • Product Feature Requirements analysis and solution implementation. • Unit test, diagnostics development, bug-fix and problem resolution reporting and documentation. • Provide technical input on solution architecture and development • Interact with peer R&D teams and technical primes across the globe. • Working in an Agile environment • Driving process efficiency.
