CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Unified Communications Engineering & Design
- Develop IT technical policies, designs, configuration standards and cookbooks for UC technologies for global enterprise deployment – Voice, Video, Contact Center
- Lead cross-functional and cross-domain (UC, Networking, Security, etc.) design initiatives
- Advance network management tool: Assess and develop solutions /recommendations / service monitoring and provisioning tools for Network Management of UC services
Testing & Implementation
- Determine implementation approach: Align BU Tech Roadmaps with product lines
- Setup, Testing/Certification, Troubleshooting, Deployment of network technologies for new technologies, new products, infrastructure, acquisitions, and upgrades
- Analyze network impacts from new Technologies and Services
- Maintain documentation/standards: Standards / designs / equipment affected by new certified products
- Prep Cisco network for change: Set up test environments, test implementation strategies, troubleshoot scenarios for new technologies / designs, provide transfer of information to Implementation and Operations
Collaboration & Partnership
- Partner with Cisco Product and Solution Engineering teams to provide IT requirements / feedback: Engineering documentation/commit review, roadmap review, EFT evaluation, enhancement requests and bugs
- Produce high quality documentation: Document design, code, and processes to ensure reuse / succession of ownership
- Communicate status: Report on progress against technical plan; timely escalation of issues and risks
- Consulting: Provide expertise to clients, vendors, Sales, Cisco on Cisco team and customers
- EBC Support: Deliver and Support EBCs for customers, (create content, host presentation & Q/A)
- Showcase Cisco-on-Cisco best practices by alignment to published solution reference network designs
- Coach/Mentor: Peers/teammates

ROLE CRITICAL SKILLS
Technical Knowledge
- Broad understanding of Cisco Unified Communications technologies. Expert technical knowledge of three or more areas of specialization within the Unified Communications domain: Contact Center, IOS Gateways and Gatekeepers, Call Manager, Phones, Phone Applications, Unity Connection, Tandberg Video, Telepresence. CCIE in Voice is a plus.
Networking Fundamentals
- Builds and applies fundamental Networking Knowledge (e.g. LAN/MAN/WAN, wireless, remote access, VPN etc.), Applications (e.g. IP, voice, wireless, security) and Theories to job role requirements and project based situations; leverages an evolved knowledge of existing / emerging networking devices and technologies, including their interconnectivity, and respective impacts to the overall network environment; Cisco networking or security certifications a plus.
Design Concepts & Principles
- The knowledge of methodologies and approaches to successfully approved network designs that takes into account current environment standards / needs, future technologies and applications benefits / differences, while designing for performance, simplicity, maintainability, manageability, efficiency, scalability, standardization and reusability. Proven capability to produce designs is a must. Internal candidates shall provide reference documentation for review.
Knowledge Sharing & Mgt.
- Gathers relevant info in support of problem analysis/resolution, organizational effectiveness/learning, career development. Must be able to synthesize complex theories and information into easily digestible material for executive consumption. Examples should be provided by candidates.
Communicates appropriately into the organization; Grows the org by raising the level of technical knowledge. Shares knowledge rather than merely collects it. Published documents a plus.

- Analyzes situations and opportunities with a broad, strategic view; integrates business and technology requirements of multiple clients and customers to achieve solutions that work across the enterprise. Direct experience working with multiple Cisco business functions is mandatory.
