This position summary covers specialist roles in a number of areas. The highest priority of this position is to support senior leadership and executive team in the analysis and realization of the corporate strategy. This involves moderate visibility, including interactions with management regarding sensitive corporate material and participation on cross-functional teams delivering on strategic initiatives. The responsibilities entail assisting in the documentation and evaluation of the current state of analytic capabilities, assisting with financial modeling needs in support of strategic initiatives, reporting and analysis of key performance indicators, work flow analysis/proposal/implementation, and special projects.
The individual takes responsibility for continued development of finance skills while actively seeking to expand their understanding of Life Insurance the insurance industry as a whole. Adherence to high ethical standards, personal integrity and maintaining professional composure/demeanor at all times is essential. This position requires the individual to have superior time management skills and a flexible work schedule.
• Depending on the specific role the individual is employed to fill, the responsibilities will vary and the percentages may carry more or less weight. • 15% Applies analytic and creative thinking skills to strategy development, market research, competitor analysis and trend tracking projects. • 15% Evaluates available technology and alternatives to optimize processes within Finance that support analytics; assist with developing cost-benefit analysis and recommendations to senior management on optimization of technological resources. • 15% Assist in the development and maintenance of financial models for strategic initiatives and special projects; coordinate with consulting resources and internal subject matter experts on model development. • 15% Monitors, maintains and prepares monthly key performance indicator (KPI) metrics reports on financial and operational results; analyze trends and explain drivers for KPI performance compared to prior history, plan, and forecasted amounts; identify risks and opportunities during KPI analysis; communicate KPI results to management. Primary customer is FLI executive team. • 15% Participate on cross-functional teams delivering on strategic initiatives such as capital markets transactions and new product development; track initiative progress and provide project management support; perform consolidation and trend analysis on status of strategic initiatives. • 15% May participate in the development of annual sales plan and subsequent periodic reporting. Primary customers include senior management team, Marketing departments, State Operations, Field Zone Vice Presidents and State Executive Directors. • 5% May assist in the development of various corporate presentations for internal and external audiences, including semi-annual Business Unit Reviews, quarterly Board of Director meetings and periodic one-off slide decks. Primary customers include senior management team, Board of Directors, and Global Life executive team. • 5% Periodically prepares various rating agency surveys. Primary customers include senior management team, AM Best, Weiss, T. Rowe Price, Standard & Poor’s, Moody’s, LIMRA and LOMA. Evaluate and document work process flows in Finance; review documentation for completeness and accuracy of work flows; develop and implement “To Be” work flows.
• 4 years minimum experience working with large data sets to identify business insights and develop key messaging • Must have superior Excel skills, beyond pivot tables & lookups, including multiple nested conditional and reference functions, and strong ability to build transparent formulas without macros • Must be able to demonstrate proven autonomy with an ability to manage resources (self, others, time, tools) to achieve objective while managing proactive communication and agreement with management • SQL programming experience • VBA.net programming experience
Required job duties are essentially sedentary in nature, consisting of occasion walking, standing, lifting and/or carrying ten pounds maximum, seeing, speaking, and hearing.
Required job duties are normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment.
• Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required. • Passing 1 CPA or CMA exam or have completed 2 MBA or Master courses preferred. • Six Sigma Yellow Belt preferred.
Minimum of 4 years of prior Accounting or Finance experience. Minimum of 4 years working with large data sets.
