A leader in this Master Auditor role will focus on effectively assessing and advising on the processes and practices related to the R&D, Pricing and Product Management functions within the Progressive Corporate Control & Audit (Internal Audit) organization. This opportunity will require applying a broad range of creative problem solving skills, as well as functional knowledge of the product, pricing and rate revision practices to analyze associated processes and underlying data. The job responsibilities include working with the respective business leaders to identify and prioritize the areas of significant exposure to these functional areas and products. This person will lead the efforts to evaluate the exposures, synthesize conclusions into practical recommendations, and work directly with management to assist in developing and deploying the solutions along with frameworks to audit these key areas. Additionally, this individual will help to enhance Control & Audit's methodologies, tools and frameworks for planning and executing our engagements along with providing coaching to other auditors and business people within the group and within Progressive. POSITION SUMMARY: The master level internal auditor is responsible for the most complex business/technical analysis or by using advanced auditing, analytical or statistical concepts and data modeling to identify behaviors, trends, or weaknesses and prepare recommendations for business solutions. Responsibilities include quality and quantity of sound decisions around business processes. The Master Internal Auditor builds on present audit processes to create future solutions and deals with the most technical or complex audit responsibilities. The Master Internal Auditor is a subject matter expert with specific technical skills addressing a specific audit need. The Master Internal Auditor works independently using latitude in making decisions. This position works with all levels of management to solve complex business issues. SCOPE: - Drafts and recommends strategies and/or policies, including suggestions for improvements in process, then submit same for approval DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (including % of Time) - Manage large scale, company-wide projects leveraging resources internal and external to C&A (20%) - Analyze data to identify trends and problems regardless of business area (20%) - Various consulting projects, including the analysis necessary to provide a better solution than what is currently being delivered today. (20%) - Various auditing projects, including meeting with management to determine the scope of the project, drafting the project plan, interview all affected parties, perform process analysis and any testing associated with the project, discuss and review any issues uncovered through the scope of the project and draft a final report of recommendations and observations for distribution to management. (20%) - Working with the C&A Management Team, develop and support strategic vision for the department to complement the Company's business goals and strategies. (20%) - Work with Executive level management, Business Unit Controllers (all areas of the company), Business Process Managers, Financial Managers, Analysts, Control & Analysis staff and management, including the Director of Internal Audit KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: - Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field - Requires at least 5-10 years of prior work experience with preference to experience in the insurance industry - Knowledge of insurance product, pricing and rate revision practices - Excellent communications skills, verbal and written, as well as listening and interviewing - Excellent problem solving skills - Ability to adapt and be flexible with any assignment - Creativity and innovation - Excellent relationship building skills, including negotiating skills - Above average project management experience - Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Visio) - Subject Matter Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and ACL (Audit Control Language) Progressive is a place where you are celebrated for the person you are, the ideas you bring and the energy you invest.
