Responsibilities The Engineer Facilities is responsible for developing and implementing cost-effective solutions for the transport and switching of cell site and PSTN traffic. Maintains path, switch, and vendor diversity where economically justified; devises routing schemes as may be required to prevent blocked calls; and plays a lead role in vendor management by documenting and tracking key service indicators. Oversees the provisioning of trunk and facility orders; coordinates circuit installation between vendor and Operations personnel; and tracks status and escalates to insure timely completion of orders. Maintains accurate circuit inventory. Analyzes and plans for trunk growth and degrowth. Monitors EBH performance via internal tools, works with internal and exteral teams to ensure optimum performance. Prepares job aids and tools that document internal methods and procedures. Also responsible for the engineering, design and documentation of all hardware required to support network growth. Qualifications BA or BS degree or equivalent work experience. - A minimum of 1 year experience in telecommunications facility engineering, traffic engineering, or order provisioning. CCNA and/or IP experience preferred- Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following platforms and/or technologies: - Telecom experience including: T1, DACS, OMP - Voice switch infrastructure including: Lucent 5E - Digital Communications including: DS1, DS3, EBH - Data communications including: routers, switches, Ethernet, hubs, TCP/IP, ATM, Frame Relay, SS 7. Knowledge of internal systems (XNG, NWF) preferred. Proficient in office computer applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access - Excellent analytic, interpersonal, and communication skills - Excellent troubleshooting skills - Perform job duties with general guidance and a thorough understanding of the job and the department's expectations and goals - Decision making skills (making appropriate use of available information and data; making sound decisions with minimal support from Manager; and being responsible for specific projects or definable portions of larger projects or processes) - Leadership skills - commitment to excellence, demonstrating company values and policies, initiating action, accepting responsibility for results, and making quality decisions - Flexible by attempting alternate solutions to resolve issues, and seamlessly adjusting to a dynamic, changing business environment - Superior organizational and project planning skills - Ability to communicate clearly and concisely; listen attentively; applying appropriate grammar; and integrating large volumes of information from multiple sources.
