WHAT ARE THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION? Serves as a subject matter resource on underwriting guidelines, policies, practices, and procedures, within assigned area.Monitors zone operations' compliance with underwriting policies, procedures, guidelines, and applicable federal/state regulations. Evaluates, provides guidance, and/or assesses risk on underwriting case/files referred to General Underwriting.Assists with developing, implementing, and maintaining underwriting guidelines, policies, programs, procedures, workflows, and/or training materials.Facilitates and/or participates in underwriting training and education courses. WHAT KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ARE NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS POSITION? Reviews, evaluates, and communicates recommendations on risk selection and/or referral files within retention levels.Participates on committees and/or projects.Interprets underwriting policies, guidelines, practices, and procedures.Surveys zone files and risk assessment decisions to ensure compliance with underwriting policies, guidelines, procedures, and federal/state regulations and could serve as a lead expert in these areas.Researches and possibly directs and analyzes data, trends, and reports to provide recommendations for improving underwriting procedures and programs.Responds to Leadership and/or Department of Insurance complaints.Could participate on and/or leads committees task forces, and/or projects.Coaches, mentors, and trains less experienced analysts. ITEMS OF NOTE Job may require incumbent to travel overnight via commercial transportation or driving motor vehicles or both, to visit office locations, conduct training, attend seminars, conferences, and/or industry meetings.
