Utilities & Energy Management Installs and repairs high voltage cables, including testing cables with various test equipment such as phasing and insulation testing, street and parking lot lights, well pump motors and control circuits. This may require driving a university vehicle to various campus locations. Installs, repairs, and calibrates metering and relaying of low to medium voltage switchgear, station battery systems including chargers, generators, and exciter control circuits. Test and repair generators and exciter control circuits. Maintains industrial equipment such as electrical systems related to generators, boilers, chillers, variable frequency drives, electronic exciters and voltage regulators. Bending and installing EMT, rigid, plasti-bond and sealtite conduit. Installs and/or repair control cables from power plant to various utility plants and substations. Other duties as required. Requirements
High school graduation or equivalent combination of training and experience. Six years combined experience in industrial, commercial, and overhead/underground electrical distribution systems. Must be able to respond to after normal duty hours, emergencies, and overtime. Should be able to read schematic diagrams and prints of electrical systems. State of Texas Class "C" Driver License or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment. State of Texas Journeyman Electrician license or ability to obtain within six months of employment. Should have a good working knowledge of TTR, insulation resistance tester, voltage ohm meter, and phasing stick. For applicants in Utilities Distribution, must have working knowledge of bucket trucks, digger trucks, and cable pulling trucks. This position will be subject to yearly motor vehicle record checks.
