WHAT ARE THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION? Responsible for supervision of assigned unit, including performance assessment, training, and career development of employees Applies Company and Departmental philosophies, guidelines, policies, and procedures to assigned Unit Plans, organizes, and coordinates workflow and activities of unit members Ensures compliance, application of proper internal controls, and adherence to Company and departmental policies within area of responsibility Monitors and assists in the development of departmental goals Fosters and maintains relationships with business partners and customers internal and external to State Farm Ensures successful achievement of unit goals and objectives based on departmental needs Build, manage, and maintain strong relationships with third party vendors Provide subject matter expertise to other departments and business partners WHAT KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ARE NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS POSITION? Applies knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of assigned area Effectively communicates with various levels of management Makes sound decisions independently within appropriate level of authority Mentors and/or acts as a knowledgeable resource for team members and peers Coordinates issues closely with management Analyzes, develops, and provides solutions to routine problems Develops analytical, planning, communication, organizational, and supervisory skills Involved in team's daily activities to monitor performance and resolve common problems Informs upper management of appropriate personnel, workload and customer service issues Coordinates special assignments and projects Assists in development of and monitoring of customer service and departmental goals Displays effective written and verbal communication skills ITEMS OF NOTE May oversee administration functions May be required to travel via commercial air or ground transportation and/or drive motor vehicles to various State Farm business locations, seminars, conferences, and/or industry meetings May be required to work irregular hours during heavy workload or to meet deadlines Incumbents are expected to continue involvement in company sponsored education and training courses for further development ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - Selected candidate will supervise the BLC Training and Quality Assurance Team in St. Louis. - Functional knowledge of all BLC Departments as well as prior experience in underwriting, completing quality reviews and employee training is preferred. - Ability to ensure department policies and procedures are updated and adhered to.
