Co-op, Chemical Biology Group
The Vertex Co-Op Program offers students the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from a hands-on perspective. You will be working closely with and learning from some of the brightest people in the industry. Co-op Program: 6 Month Commitment (January - June 2020), Full Time, 40 Hours/Week
Job summary:
The Chemical Biology Group at Vertex Pharmaceuticals is looking for a talented Co-op student to participate in our early research projects. The student will be working in Cellular Chemical Biology and will have the opportunity to interact with a multidisciplinary group involving Molecular Biology, Gene Expression, Protein Biochemistry, Biophysics and X-ray crystallography. The Co-op will be given a specific research project involving cellular and biochemical experiments to understand the mechanism of action of different targets. The student will also have the opportunity toconnect with other Co-ops and feel valued by the Vertex community. Not only will they learn about their day-to-day tasks through their specific work assignments, they will also have exposure to our organizational and scientific leaders through a series of "Lunch and Learn" sessions.

Qualification:

  • 3 years of college with a major in Chemical Biology, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline
  • Expected to have completed relevant Science courses
  • Hands-on experience in Cell Culture, SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, Cellular assays, High throughput Screening
  • Mass spec knowledge is a plus.
