Co-op Chemical Biology Proteomics
The Vertex Co-Op Program offers students the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from a hands-on perspective. You will be working closely with and learning from some of the brightest people in the industry. Co-op Program: 6 Month Commitment (January - June 2020), Full Time, 40 Hours/Week

Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate intern to join the Chemical Biology group in the Boston Research organization. Our group uses a wide range of approaches to understand disease mechanisms of action and the interplay of this disease biology with potential therapeutic strategies. The successful candidate will develop and use molecular biology and mass spectrometry skills to create proteome-wide tools that examine small molecule and protein interactions in drug discovery. They will operate in a multi-disciplinary chemical biology group and be fully immersed in the day to day operations of a drug discovery group. An ideal candidate is curious, self-motivated and thrives in both independent and team roles.
Skills & Responsibilities:
  • Cell culture and maintenance
  • Protein preparation, assay
  • Molecular biology, cloning, blotting etc.
  • Fractionation, affinity-enrichment of protein complexes
  • Maintenance and operation of high-resolution mass spectrometer
  • Data analysis and presentation

Qualification:

  • Pursuing a degree in biochemistry, biology, chemical biology, biologyand/or chemistry with relevant classes and labs.
  • Previous laboratory experience required
  • Experience working in a professional biopharma environment is a plus.
  • GPA 3.4+
