TITLE: Desktop Support Specialist Location: Boulder

DEPARTMENT: Finance

Remuneration Depending upon Qualifications and or Experience

General Purpose:

The Computer Support Specialist Two is responsible for providing personal computing support to business staff, installing or setting up computers and software, performing problem resolution and maintaining defined IT standards. The Computer Support Specialist Two has frequent interactions with customers using a high degree of patience and problem management techniques to solve issues. This individual will be required to follow through on resolution with users and will work closely with the Information Technology Manager for the support and deployment of business desktop information systems needs.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to, the functions outlined below. Management retains the discretion to add-to and/or change the duties of the position at any time, as necessary.

General Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot user issues, specifically problems in using client operating systems, client and server applications and network connectivity
  • Participate in project tasks as required
  • Participate in the deployment of client hardware and software as assigned
  • Perform periodic preventative maintenance for user computer and peripheral equipment
  • Assist in the update and maintenance of client computer asset inventory records
  • Work with users to provide limited desktop training
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years experience in a corporate/enterprise desktop client environment
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows client operating systems and Microsoft Office
  • Experience in working with systems and applications in a Microsoft Windows client/server environment
  • Experience in working with systems in a Citrix computing environment
  • Experience with Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) phone systems
  • Experience with network switches and routers
  • Experience with Virtualization platforms, VMware or Xen Server
  • Excellent time and project management skills, customer service and interpersonal skills, system diagnostic and communication (written and verbal) are critical for success in this position
  • Initiative and the ability to work independently with minimum daily supervision
  • The ability to safely lift heavy objects (PCs, monitors, printers, etc.)
  • Willingness to travel to the Denver location to service users and their computing devices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
